Students take a stand against cyber bullying

- / PR

Childlink Learning Center and Childlink High School Inc. and its youth group, Z Club, hosted the anti- cyber bullying seminar and workshop for students from six colleges and universities last Thursday.

Since a lot of people now have access to social media, bullying among the youth is easier these days, which can possibly lead to depression. This is the reason it’s important for the young ones to know the responsibility that comes with access to social media.

That’s exactly what Fr. Fidel Orendain shared with the youth during the seminar workshop. Students of Childlink, University of Cebu Main, University of Southern Philippines Foundation, Benedicto College, Proverbs Ville Academy and the University of San Jose-Recoletos attended the activity.

By the end of the seminar, the youth presented the lessons they picked up from Fr. Orendain through a stage play, dance, song and slogan. There are different forms of bullying, and for the students, there are also different ways to express how they can stop it.

One group showed how a teenager moped into depression after being cyber-bullied by his peers. Another group performed a Bisaya song with the lyrics, “Di na ta mag-away, di na tag mag sugsugay (Let’s stop fighting, let’s stop teasing each other).”

The participants also committed to stop cyber-bullying in their own way by signing the freedom wall.
