Cosap says only the Fuente Osmeña Police Station had been closely coordinating with it in the campaign against illegal drugs.

For its active effort in the war against illegal drugs, the Fuente Osmeña Police Station will receive P1 million worth of equipment from the Cebu City Government.

The of assistance came after City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (Cosap) Head Garry Lao endorsed the police station to Mayor Tomas Osmeña.

They will be receiving additional radio units, flash lights, raincoats and rubber shoes, among others.

“In terms of anti-illegal drugs, they have been coordinating with us and they’ve also made Cosap their partner in the anti-drug campaign. I’m very happy that the P1 million package was approved,” Lao said.

He said that, so far, out of 11 police stations in the city, only Station 2 or the Fuente Osmeña Police Station has been working in coordination with Cosap.

Sough for comment, Osmeña said the City will be responsive to the needs of those who are active in their efforts in the war against illegal drugs.

Last week, the mayor announced that he will be doubling the P4,000 monthly allowance of the tanods of Barangays Taptap and Bonbon for August for doing “very well” in their jobs.

“If you’re doing your job and you’ve earned it, we’ll give additional assistance. I don’t like to waste people’s money. We’ll spend it where it could be converted into better service,” Osmeña said. /
