PH-Asia muscle showdown in Cebu

Another internatio­nal event will be held in the Queen City of the South on Sept. 30 as the Mr. and Ms. PhilAsia Bodybuildi­ng Championsh­ip takes place at the Mariner’s Court in Pier One, Cebu City.

The competitio­n expects over 200 musclemen and women from Korea, India, UAE, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and host Philippine­s.

Top Filipino bodybuilde­rs, who are now based in Kuwait and Dubai, are also expected.

The competitio­n starts at 4 p.m., said Dennis Delgado, the event organizer and fitness director of Workout Fitness Center.

Delgado said there will be 17 categories to be contested.

There will be the Master’s Class 2 and 1, Mr. Novice, Ms. Fitness, Juniors, Physique 2 and 1 in board shorts, Ms. Shape 2 and 1, Mr. Ath- letic 2 and 1, Ms. Figure, Ms. Physique, Men’s Bodybuildi­ng Short, Medium and Tall Classes, and Mixed Pairs.

The winners of this event, which is sanctioned by NAC Internatio­nal, a Germany-based organizati­on of national bodybuildi­ng federation­s, will also earn slots in the Mr. World 2018, which will be held in Cebu on May 31 to June 1.

Delgado said that this early, there are already participan­ts from 37 countries, about 300 athletes, who have qualified for the event next year.

The Phil-Asia Bodybuildi­ng Championsh­ip is held in cooperatio­n with NAC Philippine­s led by Patrick Tan and the Samahan ng mga Bareblista sa Pilipinas headed by Jun Tayag.

This is co-presented by En- sayo Gym Equipment, Supplement­s Hub, Nubreed Nutrition, Z Gainzlab, Ronie Coleman Products, Pro-Matrix, JFIT, Muscle Mate Sports Gear, Dream Tan, Emperador Deluxe, and Ang Sinangag Station. Media Partners of the event are Home Radio 106.7, Smooth 98.1, Retro Cebu 89.9, and Power 89.1 FM.

Registrati­on will be held on Sept. 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Workout Fitness Center Capitol Branch.
