P15.2M in shabu confiscated
Anti-drug operatives confiscated P15.2 million worth of “lowgrade shabu” from two high-value targets during two simultaneous operations in Barangays Calamba and Labangon yesterday afternoon.
The Police Regional Office Drug Enforcement Group (PRO 7-DEG), Cebu City Police Office's City Intelligence Branch (CIB) and City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) arrested Rodel Tampus, 25, and John Dave Contado, 22, in drug busts.
“We received an intel report of their operations so we placed them under one month surveillance. The shabu that we confiscated was brownish, which means that they are not fully-cooked,” Supt. Glenn Mayam, chief of the special operations unit of the DEG, said.
Mayam said that the shabu was not poisonous, but rather had the same hit with the white-colored variety.
“We asked one of those who tried it and the only difference is that the brownish shabu doesn't go down smoothly unlike the white one. The brown shabu appears when there is a rarity of shabu, when pushers are desperate to supply their customers,” Mayam said.
Chief Insp. Cristopher Navida, head of the CIB, said they brought P2,000 worth of shabu from Tampus.
Tampus yielded 1,200 grams worth P14 million of the drug stash in Sitio Clan, Labangon.
“It's not mine. A Jason from Minglanilla just placed it here and gave me P3,000,” Tampus said.
Contado, on the other hand, was arrested in a motel in Calamba with 100 grams worth P1.1 million of suspected shabu.
Mayam said that Contado sourced his drugs from Tampus.
They will be facing charges for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
