Delos Reyes strengthens BisDak roots

- ROGER SERNA / Writer

Award-winning Visayan director Maryo J. delos Reyes wants to open an art school that will cater to wannabeactors hailing from the Visayas and Mindanao area.

He told Cebu-based reporters during his recent visit to Cebu that he is building a house in Bohol where he plans to open “an art farm” with a school for acting. The school mostly caters to acting enthusiasts in the Vis-Min area but those from Luzon are welcome, too.

It may be a daunting task but delos Reyes is determined to transform his dream into reality. The entertainment media felt the director’s unwavering vision and could only share his optimism that the project will come to fruition in no time at all.

Delos Reyes came to Cebu to launch the solo album of his ward Orlando Sol, a member of the all-male group Masculados. Entitled “Emosyon,” the album contains the songs “Ingatan Mo Ang Salitang Mahal Kita,” “Kaibigan,” “I’ll Always Be There,” “Lilipad Ako ‘Nay” and “Kailan Darating Ang Ayoko Na?”

It was delos Reyes who advised Sol to go solo. The director also wants Sol to be known more as an actor.

To achieve this, delos Reyes transformed the song “Kailan Darating Ang Ayoko Na?” into the first ever video series of the same title, a product of Star Music’s creative group. Delos Reyes’ two other talents, former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Catherine Rem and Blumark Roces, who are both on a comeback trail, joined Sol to form an unconventional love triangle in the series with an LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) theme.

Since the three speak Visayan (Sol hails from Butuan while Rem and Roces come from Bohol), some lines in the series are in Bisaya.
