Nievera to perform in Vegas

-

Martin Nievera is headed to Las Vegas this December for a concert and he wishes to uplift the people there following the worst mass shooting in US history.

“What happened in Las Vegas is truly a tragedy,” the Concert King told the Philippine Entertainment Portal. “Anywhere in the world, this happens... but when it’s your hometown, you always think, ‘It’s not gonna happen here. It’s gonna happen somewhere else.’”

Nievera considers Las Vegas one of his hometowns after so many gigs in the city over the years.

“But what happened in Las Vegas, it’s so close to home--on the strip club of Las Vegas. I was devastated,” said Nievera, who is also an endorser of the Solaire Resort and Casino in Parañaque City.

The Las Vegas shooting, which killed 58 people and injured over 500, happened at a country music festival on a Las Vegas Boulevard. The shooter identified as Stephen Paddock was shooting from his hotel room in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

“My job becomes harder now because I have to lift up the spirits of the people who may be afraid to go to a casino now,” Nievera said.

The 55-year-old entertainer is scheduled to perform in Las Vegas on Dec. 16 and 17.

“As an entertainer in Las Vegas, especially now that I’m in this casino (Solaire), I have to find different ways to make you feel comfortable because we know, as a people-as a Filipino or American--as a people, terror cannot change our lives. It should not,” Nievera added.

Paddock had a Filipina girlfriend, Marilou Danley.
