SHS-AdC, USC gun for slots to SBP nationals

-

Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu ( SHS-AdC) and University of San Carlos (USC) gun for a slot in the national finals as they start their campaign in the 32nd SBP and Passerelle Twin Tournament Visayas Regionals today at the Iloilo Sports Complex.

After coming off a win over Visayas champion University of the Visayas (UV) in the Cebu leg SBP championships, SHS-AdC has all the momentum going into the two-day regional meet.

SHS- AdC is up against home team Hua Siong College of Iloilo, St. John’s Institute of Bacolod and St. Mary’s Academy of Roxas.

SHS-AdC dethroned UV with a lopsided 67-39 win led by MVP Jared Bahay’s 17 points.

Hua Siong College, St. John’s Institute and SHS-AdC are as equally talented and either of the three are expected to be crowned as the new Visayas champion this year.

A magical run

USC’s run in the Cebu leg was nothing but magical after upsetting both UV and SHS-AdC.

USC beat SHS- AdC in the Cebu tournament finals 66- 62 led by Reinhard Jumamoy, who bagged MVP honors for his 14- point performance.

USC is up against defending champio Bacolod Tay Tung High School, Hua Siong College and HERCOR College of Roxas.

Bacolod Tay Tung is the tournament favorite, with an intact roster from last year’s National Finals second runner- up squad.

The tournament follows a single round- robin elimination round.

The top two teams will fight for the championship, while the bottom two will play for third place.

The champions of both divisions will represent Visayas in the National Finals in December.
