NBI joins probe on ambush

-

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 will conduct a parallel investigation on the ambush of businessman Vincent Rojo in Barangay Tisa last Friday.

This, as SPO3 Rommel Bancog, investigator of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said they tried to talk to the victim and his wife but they were not willing to reveal any information to the police.

NBI 7 Regional Director, Atty. Patricio Bernales Jr., confirmed to SunStar Cebu about their investigation.

Rojo, an owner of a cock- fighting derby and other gaming outlets, suffered a graze bullet wound on his head after more than five men shot him with an M16 rifle.

Special Agent Arnel Pura said that aside from the parallel investigation, another one will be conducted with the provincial Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco).

“It is upon the request of the wife, through their lawyer, that we also do an investigation. We also took custody of the victim’s sports car for ballistic examination, among others,” Pura said.

Police recovered 18 empty shells from an M16 rifle at the scene. Rojo’s Dodge Challenger is now in the NBI 7 headquarters.

Homicide investigators said that they have yet to contact the victim and his wife again.

“We left them our number in case they’re ready to talk to us,” Bancog said.
