DBTC faces SHS-Ateneo in Cesafi football finals
Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) will add another chapter to their storied rivalry when they face off in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) football high school division finals today at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).
DBTC has been nothing but dominant this season in winning all their games, including a 7-0 beating of SHS-AdC in the elimination round. The Greywolves have never conceded a single goal this season yet, which shows how dominant this team is.
DBTC head coach Glen Ramos, however, feels that the finals will be more competitive and that they won’t put down their guard even one bit.
“It will be a good game,” Ramos told SunStar Cebu. “We must not be too overconfident.”
The Magis Eagles have the bragging rights, though, after putting an end to DBTC’s championship streak with a 1-0 win in last year’s finals.
“We’ve been underdogs every year. Don Bosco is always favored and we have to give the respect due to them,” said SHS-AdC ath- letic director Rico Navarro . “The team needs to take on a ‘we believe’ mindset and work this way for 90 minutes.”
Navarro feels that SHS-AdC has improved a lot since the opening day loss to DBTC and that the team is in top form despite its lack of a training field, which was under construction.
“The football team is ready for the finals. The opening day loss was an eye-opener and adjustments have been made through the season,” he said. “Training has picked up despite the school field undergoing rehab.” /
