CABC 1st Corporate Cup kicks off today

Cebu’s architects will test their mettle against each other in basketball as the Cebu Architects’ Basketball Club (CABC) 1st Corporate Cup kicks off today at the Benedicto College Gym on A.S. Fortuna St., Mandaue City.

The basketball tournament, dedicated to licensed architects here in Cebu, has six teams named after its major sponsors - Boysen Paints, Unitec Pipes, Phelps Dodge, Davies Paints, Island Premium Paints and Kalsi Boards.

The tournament follows a single round-robin format, where the top four teams will advance to the semifinals and the higher seeds get a twice-to-beat advantage. The finals will follow a bestof-three format.

“This is through our efforts and our strong love for basketball. This is our venue to gather together and play for the love of the sport,” said CABC president Klein Baladya.

The other board directors in the newly formed club are vice-president internal Paolo Alberto, vice-president external Justin Aspacio, secretary Mondix Verano, treasurer Oliver Tan, auditor Allan Choachuy and PRO Richard Abella.

“This also to bridge the gap between the old generation and the young bloods through basketball,” said Baladya.

A total of 120 architects comprise the league, wherein player were spread out to the six different squads through a draft process.

CABC is targeting three conference­s for next season.
