A Gym fighters dominate Amateur Boxing revival

Fighters from the “A” Gym dominated the Cebu Amateur Boxing Revival 5 spectacle held at the Talisay City Sports and Cultural Complex last Sunday.

The A Gym fighters scored five wins out of seven bouts against fighters from the different boxing clubs in Metro Cebu.

Amiel Ortega opened A Gym’s winning barrage with a unanimous decision win over Daniel Ailis of the Wakee Boxing gym in the 30kgs Kids/Novice category.

This was followed by JR Velas- quez’s unanimous decision win over Clinton Martinez also in the 30kgs Kids/Novice class; and Jemwel Asocenas, who also pulled a UD win over Kenneth Delantar of 10,000 BC in the 52kgs School Boys/Developmen­tal class.

Juniors/Experience­d class fighters John Niño Vega scored a split decision win over John Paul Gabunilla of 10,000 BC in the 45.5 kgs. match, while Benny Cañete pulled off a UD win over Berland Robles also of 10,000 BC.

John Balobo of Wakee Gym and Jimpol Dignos of Phil-Aust Boxing Gym were the two fighters, who prevented a total domination for the A Gym boxers.

Balobo defeated Erick Miguel Austria in the 40kgs Kids/Novice Division and Dignos denied Clark Sanchez following a UD win against 47kgs Juniors/Experience­d category.

The other fighters who came out victorious were John Mark Montefolka, Yerodge Gura, Lenbert Cainap and Edward Jimenez.
