Linkin Park releases ‘Carpool’

-

Six days before Chester Bennington killed himself, he and a couple of his Linkin Park bandmates shot an episode of Apple Music’s “Carpool Karaoke.” The band released the episode last Thursday.

In the episode, Bennington appeared to be in high spirits. He was driving the vehicle with comedian Ken Jeong riding shotgun. Riding in the backseat were Linkin Park founder Mike Shinoda and resident DJ Joe Hahn.

Of the three Linkin Park members, Bennington was the loudest and the funniest. In the video, he was just laughing along with Jeong, who suggested to rename the band to Linken Park and make him its newest member.

Bennington, who had a signature growl, even taught Jeong, a licensed physician, something new: “screanging.”

The 41-year- old late rocker invented the term, which is an amalgamation of scream singing, something he was known for.

At one point, Jeong got the rockers out of the car so he could show them how to dance. Bennington gamely asked the comedian to teach him how to dance what Jeong called the “hotdogs and ketchup” move.

The quartet sang three Linkin Park songs: “Numb,” “In the End” and “Talking to Myself ” and a couple of other rock songs from other artists.

Jeong then led Bennington, Shinoda and Hahn to a mobile truck karaoke where they continued to sing.

The episode started with this message: “With the blessing of Chester’s family and his bandmates, we share this episode, and dedicate it to the memory of Chester.”

Bennington hanged himself last July 20.
