BCPD TO CELEBRATE 25TH YEAR ON OCT. 19

The Banilad Study Center for Professional Development (BCPD) will mark its 25th founding anniversary on Oct. 19 at the Cebu City Mariott Hotel & Casino.
BCPD is a technical vocational institution registered with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) and a Department of Education (DepEd)–approved stand alone senior high school.
It offers technical vocational livelihood track with specializations in food and beverage, services, bread and pastry production, cookery, front office service, and hotel and restaurant services.
Since its inauguration in 1992, BCPD stands by its mission to prepare young women for employment/entrepreneurship and higher educational attainment through academic-technical skills training and work ethics imbued with Christian values.
“BCPD has paved the way for me to reach my dreams despite poverty. The training it provided for me has greatly increased my knowledge, skills and inculcated in me personal values, which helped lead me to where I am now. BCPD is like our ticket to the real world because it makes us more confident knowing that we came from a school with good reputation,” said Jay Ann Amores, who works as a demi-chef at JPark Island Resort and Waterpark.
Jay Ann Amores is one of the many graduates of BCPD who immediately gained employment after graduation in reputable establishments.
BCPD’s industry partners include Brutus Foods Inc., My Joy Foods Inc., Cafe Georg, O Georg, Laguna Catering and Commissary Services, Creative Cuisine, Cebu City Marriott Hotel, Montebello Villa Hotel, Plantation Bay Resort and Spa, Shangrila’s Mactan Resort and Spa, Costabella Tropical Beach Hotel, Radisson Blu Cebu, Teo-fel Pension House and UCC Fine Dining Restaurant, among others.
Some of its partners and collaborators include Reledev Ausaid, Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Afos Foundation, Tesda, DepEd, Hotel Resort and Restaurant Association of Cebu Inc. (HRRACI) and the Cebu City Government.
BCPD is a project of the Foundation for Professional Training Inc. (FPTI), a non-stock, non-profit, non-governmental organization. FPTI, accredited by the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC) also operates four other schools in Metro Manila and in the Calabarzon region.
It is located in 491 Archbishop Reyes Ave., Barangay Banilad, Cebu City.
The establishment of BCPD was inspired by the pastoral trip in 1987 by Blessed Alvaro del Portillo, then prelate of the Opus Dei who encouraged stakeholders to initiate projects aimed at alleviating poverty and helping the less privileged live a more humane and dignified life.
