Cebu again landed in Conde Nast Traveler’s list of best islands in the world, moving up three places to nab the second spot.

Boracay was the top island for travelers while Palawan landed in the third spot in the travel magazine’s annual list, which covered 30 islands outside of the United States.

Cebu and the Visayas Islands were hailed for its beaches. The magazine mentioned Camotes Islands as a destination to visit “to get a true taste of the island life.” The magazine said many Asian airlines have direct flights to Mactan Cebu International Airport and that Cebu City is “personal with plenty of up-andcoming restaurants and shopping.”

More than 300,000 travelers took part in the annual Readers’ Choice Awards. The magazine received more than 100,000 comments that helped the editors come up with the list.

Readers, the magazine said, declared a passion for the authentic, personalized and unexpected, and that these were all present in their picks.

Boracay kept its spot as best island in the world, and was described as “close to a tropical idyll” with a thriving night life.

Palawan’s Subterranean River was cited as one of the island’s attractions. Palawan was in the second spot in last year’s list.

The only other Asian island that made the list was Bali, Indonesia.

Other islands that made the list were Mallorca, Spain; Mykonos, Greece; Bermuda; St. Bart’s; Turks and Caicos; Cayman Islands; St. Lucia; St. John, US Virgin Islands; Crete, Greece; Sardinia, Italy; Ibiza, Spain; Antigua; Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada; Isla Mujeres, Mexico; Barbados; Capri, Italy; Fiji; Moorea and Bora Bora in French Polynesia; British Virgin Islands; Santorini, Greece; Mauritius; Anguilla; Hvar, Croatia; Madeira, Portugal and St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.
