An Ace at the Game

Juggling life with work and play can seem daunting, especially if the occupation one has is demanding with time.

But for Ace Sotto, it’s a welcome challenge.

Currently the general manager of Construction and Engineering for 8990 Holdings Inc., Ace also juggles this responsibility with the task of being a big part of the Subdivision and Housing Developers Association-Central Visayas (SHDA-CV).

Ace was previously the president of SHDA-CV back in 2013 and 2014 and was then elected to the current position he now holds, the current SHDA governor for the Visayas. This title entails him to represent the member developers in the Visayas at the National SHDA Board.

With his involvement in both the real estate market in Cebu and SHDA-CV, Ace has seen how SHDA has united registered and responsible developers in producing and creating a wide variety of excellent real estate products both in Central Visayas and nationally.

“These developments have given the market a variety of choices. More importantly, it continues to help the government address the housing backlog through its affordable or low-cost and socialized projects, giving the Filipino people a chance to own a house they can call their home,” Ace enthused about SHDA.

And the real estate market in the Visayas, especially in Cebu, is still on the rise, steadily growing stronger, which also rings true for Ace and 8990 Holdings Inc.

“In our company alone, we have produced and turned over around 10,000 housing units in the Central Visayas to home buyers for the past five years or so. We continue to develop more subdivisions and condominiums because the demand for affordable housing is still very strong.”

Exciting times are also ahead for 8990 Holdings Inc., with ongoing projects and developments in Angeles, Bulacan, Mandaluyong, Manila, Muntinlupa, Cavite, Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo, Davao and General Santos City.

Some of its future projects include a township project in Lapu-Lapu City, a township with a mall in Ortigas-Pasig, a mixeduse development in Toril, Davao, and a low-cost subdivision project in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo with a wakeboard park. Plans to expand in Ormoc City are also in the pipeline.

But as the saying goes, working can make for a dull life and Ace knows all about making the most out of his life. Relieving the stress from work, his knack for collecting cacti, as well as ornamental aquarium fish—hobbies he considers therapeutic—help in easing the stress from work.

As a family man, Ace still manages to spend quality time with his family on the weekends, cooking meals for them, making sure to also talk to his wife and playing with his children whenever he is home.

“I’m always out of town, so when I’m in Cebu, I make sure to go home early and dedicate my weekends solely for my family.”

And just like that, Ace balances out his work and personal life, creating a routine and a lifestyle that suits him, his family, and benefits the real estate market in Cebu and Central Visayas.
