The dashing president
The Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA) has been an active player in the housing and real estate industry for almost 50 years. Its roots and inception date back to 1970 while the SHDA Central Visayas Chapter (SHDA-CV) was formally organized sometime in 2006 by Cebu developers.
Since then, SHDA-CV has been consistent in making its presence known in Central Visayas as well as around the country.
President of Pacific Land Ventures & Property Development Inc. Dennis Quiokeles now leads and heads SHDA-CV as its current president. He has been an active member of SHDA-CV, Pacific Land being one of its founding members as the company also started back in 2006.
“Being elected and given the mandate to serve as its president may or may not be a necessary consequence of the long years of service to SHDA-CV and its members,” Dennis joked.
Aside from being the president, Dennis has always been an active member of SHDA-CV ever since its inception. He still serves as its legal adviser—Dennis being a lawyer by profession. He also served as election committee chairman for several years, and vice president for at least three or four non-consecutive years including last year.
And it may seem like it’s all work for Dennis, his being president officially making him the chief executive officer of the association, but for him, it is all about doing his duty and obligations with gusto, and Dennis believes SHDA-CV is changing the real estate market in Cebu and in the Philippines.
“When a group of like-minded individuals or those sharing common interests band together, it always creates a platform for each member to amplify its voice through that group.”
On the side of Pacific Land Ventures & Property Developments Inc., Dennis is proud to have always been part of the company since the start, presiding over its growth.
Its Midpoint Residences Towers 1 and 2 have been practically sold out, propelling them forward to plan for Tower 3.
Pacific Land is looking into drawing up plans for another mixed-use medium or high-rise development on its property located in a prime area within Capitol site, Cebu City.
Despite the amount of duties and responsibilities Dennis holds, he still affirms that both within work and outside of work, he is a husband, a father, a son, a brother and a friend.
“It’s always a matter of prioritizing what you value on how you’ll allocate your time. I’m not always successful at it but I do try. With my position in Pacific Land, there aren’t exactly a lot of exclusively ‘outside of work’ time. But I’m not complaining.”
And when asked how he balances his personal life with work, Dennis answered in true lawyer fashion, profoundly.
“I guess it manifests based on your priorities. And maybe, just maybe, the key is not necessarily to strictly ‘separate’ the phases or components of your life but to integrate them. You only have one life to live after all. Of course, once in a while, you need that solitude and you should have the time for that. But most times, you just need to embrace that while the phases of your life do overlap, they don’t necessarily need to fight with or against each other to have that balance.”
