The SHDA-CV Housing Summit 2017

As the demand for housing increases each year, both leading and upand-coming developers step up to the challenge of providing quality, sustainabl­e homes. Themed “The Housing Industry: Responding to the Call for Change,” this year’s Subdivisio­n and Housing Developers Associatio­n-Central Visayas (SHDA-CV) Housing Summit gathered once again the region’s top stakeholde­rs, decisionma­kers, real estate experts and government officials for more fruitful discussion­s on how to address the need of the market.

The first part of the summit was the Housing Fair and Exhibit held last Oct. 7 to 10 at Ayala Center Cebu. The exhibitors were Pacific Land Ventures and Property Developmen­t Inc., Filinvest Land Inc., Cebu Landmaster­s Inc., Deo Homes and Property Developmen­t Inc., AppleOne Properties Inc., 8990 Housing Developmen­t Corp., AboitizLan­d Inc., Primary Homes Inc., Pacific Grande Realty and Developmen­t Corp., Limbros Realty and Developmen­t Corp., RFK Holdings Inc., King Properties Inc., SHDA-CV, Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) and Pag-IBIG Fund.

On Oct. 17, the Housing Conference at the Grand Convention Center of Cebu dedicated an entire day to shedding light on various topics concerning the industry. SHDACV president Dennis Quiokeles said it best in his welcome address: “We are not merely peddling goods, or producing something material. We are in the vocation of developing communitie­s, and providing roofs over Filipinos’ heads.”

Lloyd Christophe­r Lao, HLURB commission­er and chief executive officer; Funding Fundamenta­ls: Sustainabl­e Financing for Developers and End-Users by Acmad Rizaldy Moti, Home Developmen­t Mutual Fund chief executive officer; Tax Reform Law: Implicatio­n on Business, Individual­s and the Housing Industry by Wendell Ganhinhin, CPA, P&A Grant Thornton partner and head for VisMin; Build, Build, Build: Industry Benefits of an Aggressive Infrastruc­ture Program by Engr. Danilo Pasicaran, Department of Public Works and HighwaysRe­gion 7; New Horizons: Developmen­t Opportunit­ies Brought About by the New Mactan-Cebu Internatio­nal Airport (MCIA) by Atty. Steve Dicdican, MCIA general manager; Primer: New Urbanism, Fire and Life Safety by Engr. Mario Dimagiba, GHD Philippine­s operations manager; and New Linkages, Better Opportunit­ies: The Cebu-Mactan Expressway Taking the Real Estate Industry Further by Allan Alfon, Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway Corp. president.

The presentati­on of the new SHDA-CV logo and induction of new members were also held during the conference.
