Residential tower to complement resort, hospital

-

Alenter Resort Hotels Corp., the firm behind the Bluewater resort chain, will be investing in a highrise facility, in anticipation of the influx of both leisure and medical tourists to Mactan.

Julie Alegrado-Vergara, chief executive officer of Alenter Resort Hotels Corp., said the highrise tower, which will be initially named Maribago Residences, will be located inside the family-owned five-hectare Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort.

The tower will have around 200 hotel rooms for leisure guests and rooms dedicated for long-staying guests, specifically for medical tourism.

“We are in the final stage of planning already. We have already chosen our architects,” said Vergara, at the sidelines of the ARC Hospitals media launch last Wednesday.

“We came about this project mainly because we are enjoying high occupancy. There are so many things going on—the increase in airport capacity; there is so much interest in Cebu. There’s a lot of investors coming in to Mactan. I think it is about time we go with the flow,” she added.

The high-rise tower will be launched in the middle of 2018. It is set for completion by 2021.

Earlier, the family unveiled its latest investment in Mactan Island and its latest venture into the medical and healthcare industry—the ARC Hospitals (Mactan), which is a 100-bed hospital in Sitio Malinao, Barangay Agus, Lapu-Lapu City.

The planned high-rise tower is set to complement the ARC Hospitals and the Bluewater Resort chain’s position in the country’s medical tourism sphere.

Alenter Resort Hotels Corp. owns Bluewater Panglao Beach Resort, Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort and Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort. The firm also owns the Almont Hotels in Mindanao. /
