Nicole del Rosario wins gold in HK
Nicole del Rosario rules Female 2003 age group, beats rivals by two minutes Moira Erediano finishes second in Female 2004 age group National team member Karen Manayon finishes at seventh in Open Youth
Junior triathletes Nicole Marie Del Rosario and Moira Frances Erediano of Rider Omega Pro showed their grit and class in the 2017 Hong Kong Life ASTC Sprint Triathlon Asian Cup in Sunny Bay, Lantau Island, Hong Kong last Saturday.
Del Rosario, 14, ruled the Female 2003 age group after clocking 50 minutes and 54 seconds in the 400-meter swim, 10-kilometer bike and 2.5K run. She beat Man Wing, who clocked 52:38, and local Constance Leung Kuang, who finished in 1:09:23.
The Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesus student started the race strong and was the first to come out of the water in 7:17; she continued to be dominant in the bike course with a time of 21:08 before capping off the race with a 13:51 run.
Erediano, meanwhile, finished in second place in the Female 2004 age group in 46:47. Quincy Au Che Yiu of Hong Kong topped the race in 46:19, while Nam Yu of China came third in 50:20.
Erediano was second out of the water in 7:11 and she managed to catch up after clocking 19:33 in the bike but came just a little bit short after timing 11:57 in the run.
On the other hand, Cebuana national team member Karen An- drea Manayon settled for seventh place in the Open Female Youth after finishing in 46:24.
Talisay City’s Andrew Kim Remolino, also a member of the national team, clocked 1 hours, 3 minutes and 38 seconds In the 750-meter swim, 20K bike and 5K run of the men’s elite open. Remolino was the first Filipino athlete to finish the race and was at 35th place overall.
His teammates Julius Constantino (1:04:57) finished at 43rd, Alejo Lucian (1:07:09) was 51st, Juan Carlos Abad (1:07:45) ranked 53rd and Lorbes Iñaki (1:11:32) finished at 59th. /
