GRANDSLAM WITHIN REACH FOR CONVERGYS

Convergys eliminates Accenture in E-League, makes third straight trip to the finals

Defending champions Convergys Converters are well on their way to a rare grandslam title after eliminatin­g the hardfighti­ng Accenture Sharks, 65-57, in the deciding Game 3 of the Elite Classic semifinals series of the 2017 CSCC E-League held at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym last Saturday.

The tactical game started with the Converters taking a five point lead, 15-10 and managing to keep their heads afloat despite the constant attempts of the Sharks to barrel through its defense.

Kenneth Dysam took the lead role for the team’s victory as he scattered 12 points on top of nine rebounds and two assists. His brother and league’s reigning MVP Franz Dionne and Sherwin Resilla had 10 points each and a combined six rebounds, five assists and four steals to lead Convergys to their third straight fi- nals appearance, for the chance to win three straight titles.

Jethro Gonzaga led the losing team with 13 points, while and Junas Misa finished with 11 ending the magical season of the Sharks.

Meanwhile, fourth seed QBE Generals used a 23-11 third quarter blitz to beat top seed Tech Mahindra Tech Mighties, 67-64, to make their first finals appearance in the Evo League Finals on its rookie year in the league.

Tech Mahindra was all business from the start taking a 17-15 lead before closing the first half with a 32-22 lead.

However, the Generals came out roaring in the second half, as they stormed the third quarter with precise baskets and changed the tempo and take a 45-43 lead entering the final period.

QBE played composed in the final quarter despite the ef- forts of Tech Mahindra to steal the game.

Stuart Foot scored 22 points, Johnrey Girasol contribute­d 18 and Jecon Bonsucan finished with 17 points for QBE while Robert Rebaño scored the game high 30 points, King Olbis made 16 and Saul Sanchez made 10 for Tech Mahindra.

The Results Company Spartans on the other hand punished the defense of Contact Solutions Flying Lemurs in the first two quarters, mellowed in the third before finishing the job with torrid baskets in the final period to stay alive for a deciding game after scoring an 81-40 win.

Jade Seno scored 18 points, Albien Cadungog and John Cadampog contribute­d 16 points each and Aldrin Ople added 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for The Results.
