MCPO nabs ‘rapist’ in Canduman

-

The 37-year-old man who was tagged as a serial rapist in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City was arrested in a police checkpoint last Thursday dawn.

So far, seven women showed up to Mandaue Police Station 6 in Canduman and identified Reil Yamit Ceniza, a resident of Zone 4 in Barangay Mantuyong, as the man who allegedly raped them.

PO2 Orvenseth Felicio of MPS 6 said Ceniza was arrested in a checkpoint by their station’s personnel on Don Sergio Suico St. in Canduman at 1 a.m.

Felicio said the suspect poses as a habal-habal driver to deceive the women.

“Pagkita niya naa’y checkpoint, niliko siya. Mao to gigukod ‘nya gibabagan (When the suspect saw that there was a checkpoint, he immediately turned his motorcycle to elude the checkpoint. Police officers chased and caught him),” he said.

MPS 6 found a .9mm revolver with two live ammunition and a medium pack of white crystalline substance believed to be shabu from Ceniza.

Felicio said that the suspect used the gun to intimidate the victims not to report what happened to anyone.

All the victims that came to the police station were from Canduman. They had reported the incidents right after they were sexually abused by the suspect on separate dates.

The victims were sexually abused in Riverside along Don Sergio Suico St.

MPS 6 expects more victims to visit the police station after the arrest of Ceniza, who denied all the allegations against him.

He said he only found the gun that was seized from him on that day.

MPS 6 will file complaints of rape and violations of Republic Act 4136 for driving without a driver’s license, Republic Act 10591 and Republic Act 9165 against Ceniza.

In a Facebook post, Mandaue Mayor Gabriel Luis Quisumbing commended the Mandaue City Police Office for the capture of the suspect.

“I am extremely pleased to announce that the alleged serial rapist that has been operating in the Canduman area has been arrested... For those that prey on the innocent, rest assured, we’re coming for you,” said Quisumbing. /
