Former DOT RD offers expertise

As more investors continue to cash in on the region’s tourism industry, a training and consultancy firm is seeing the need to level up the region’s tourism stakeholders.

Amici Initiati Inc. announced it is offering its expertise to enhance services offered by tour guides and travel management players.

Partly managed by former tourism regional director Rowena Montecillo, who serves as one of the trustees, Amici Initiati Inc. is offering two training courses open to qualified candidates.

One is the regional tour guide training course slated on Nov. 13 to Dec. 16, while the other is the travel company management course scheduled on Dec. 13 to 15.

Both workshops will be held in BDMPC Building on CPG East Ave. in Tagbilaran City.

“The tour guide training aims to address the need to strengthen the availability of trained and competent tour guides in the region while the equally important travel management training will serve to encourage a thriving tourism business among industry players,” said Montecillo.

She added there is a need to professionalize the human resources and business components of the industry. The newly-established company is waiting for the release of its accreditation from the Department of Tourism.

She said that while investors put up various tourism offerings to attract people to visit the region, it is equally important to sustain or improve the tourism experience it promises to its guests.

“It is a perennial challenge to equip learners with the appropriate knowhow to excel in this field. Amici Initiati is armed with the sound linkage and expertise in the tourism operation, training and academic field to deliver graduates par excellence who are definitely what the industry demands,” she said. /
