hat animals scare you the most? In the spirit of Halloween, we’re giving you a list of animals that have frightened us for years.

Bats

Although they're actually harmless, bats are often seen flying at night, and this led many to believe they're on the side of darkness. And it doesn't help that there are stories of vampires turning into bats.

Spiders

They may not be big but the sight of spiders creeps so many of us out. Maybe because we associate them with cobwebs and old, abandoned houses or we know some of them are poisonous. Whatever the reason, arachnophobia is a real thing.

Black cats

They say a black cat brings bad luck. There's no proof of this at all, but the idea is enough to keep some people away from the dark colored felines.

Wolves

A pack of wolves can be dangerous to encounter, but what sends chills up most people's spines is the sound of wolves howling. crows

It could be the sound of them cawing or their black feathers. Or that a group of these birds are called a murder. Crows also cause heavy damage to crops, which is why scarecrows were invented. Crows are known to be intelligent birds and perhaps their ability to communicate freaks some of us out. Rats

They've been around for centuries and they've always been thought of as pests. When you think about where you can find rats, it's always in dark, dingy places surrounded by rubbish. No wonder they're in this category.

snakes

With its beady eyes, scaly body and forked tongue, a snake is not the kind of animal parents want their kids to keep as pets. That some of them are poisonous adds to the danger. It doesn't help that snakes are depicted as sneaky and evil in many stories. Anything else out there that gives you a fright?
