Sorongon, Chepsiror top Gaisano run

Ruffa Sorongon and Eric Chepsiror ruled the sixth edition of Gaisano CountryMal­l Anniversar­y Run, winning the women’s and men’s 21-kilometer titles, respective­ly, yesterday.

Sorongon finished the half-marathon in 1 hour, 34 minutes and 6 seconds to win the women’s class with a 10-minute cushion. Michelle Ann Beboso came in second in 1:44:53, while weekend warrior Mereeis Ramirez was third in 1:46:49.

Kenyan Chepsiror had a dominating finish in the men’s division, clocking 1:10:16. Azlan Pagay came second in 1:18:43 and Paul James Zafico placed third in 1:19:19.

Computer engineerin­g student Prince Joey Lee, meanwhile, captured the men’s 15K title in 53:11, beating Eugene Postrado by 25 seconds. Joseph Arnel Emia was third in 54:28.

Lovely Andrin topped the women’s 15K in 1:09:07, outlasting Geneda Arcuino by 38 seconds. Angel Castillore came in at 1:18:26 for third place.

Jomar Angus won the men’s 10K race in 34:40 over Jason Padayao and Arnel Florentino; while Cherry Andrin clocked 43:33 to reign in the women’s division over Geniecel Saballa and Mary Joy Castor.

Junior triathlete­s Karen Manayon (21:25) and Moira Frances Erediano (21:27) had a 1-2 finish in the women’s 5K. Charisse Encarnacio­n (22:26) finished at third place. Ruel Algufera (16:51) won the men’s 5K, beating Noel Tillor (16:56) and Ariel Saballa (17:17). /
