CROSSFIT SUBTERO BASKETBALL LEAGUE Lao drops doubles for Tigers to ravish Cobras, 89-73

Former University of the Visayas Green Lancers banger Edrian Lao dropped a double-double performanc­e to lead the Tigers to an 89-73 win over the Cobras in the CrossFit Subtero-Cebu Weekend Basketball League/Rad Teamwear basketball tournament at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym last Sunday.

Lao scored the game-high 28 points on top of 12 rebounds and added five assists, three steals and four blocks with only one turnover to help the sixman Tigers arrest a two-game losing slide. They logged the first win of the season while handing the Cobras its first loss in three games.

Helping Lao sustain the momentum of the Tigers were Matthew Coscos and Jom Laksamana who contribute­d 21 and 14 points, respective­ly, while Christophe­r Salazar topscored for the Cobras with 24 points, Jan Lim made 17 points, and Nico Mira and Sanji Rubio finished with 10 points each.

Meanwhile, ex-SWU Cobras guard Francis Ortega also dropped a double-double game by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds to help the Wolves beat Phoenix, 97-83, and improve to 2-2 in the team standings.

Wintsky Banday scored the game-high 23 points. Gil Divinagrac­ia also made 14, Feil- bien Coquilla finished with 1, and Eric Faytone contribute­d 10 points for the Wolves’ win. Jax Bautista topscored with 19 points, Ben Mejares added 16, Rafson Chua tallied 15, Marvin Diocares had 14, and Chase Cokaliong chipped in 12 points as Phoenix suffered its first loss in three games.
