PILIPINAS CUP 2017 Carranz lands second place

Carranz Don Bosco Cebu FC settled for second place, while Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) ended up at third in their respective divisions of the Pilipinas Cup 2017 yesterday at the Clark Freeport in Pampanga.

Carranz DB Cebu bowed down to Sugod FC, 1-2, in the finals of the Boys Under-18 division.

The match was tied at 1-1, but Sugod FC scored a goal in the last five minutes to win the match.

Carranz DB Cebu FC finished second place in Group A with nine points from three wins and a loss.

Carranz DB Cebu FC beat Black Knights, 1-0, in the semifinals.

SHS-AdC, meantime, edged out UST, 4-3, on penalty shootout for third place honors in the Boys Under-16 division.

The match was tied 1-1 in regulation. All four kickers of SHS-AdC - Yoshiki Yamaguchi, Nao Osawa, John Veloso, Musashi Abe and Chris Osawa converted their shots, while goalkeeper Miguel Galang made a crucial save against UST’s last kicker to clinch the win.

SHS-AdC lost to GOM Center of Excellence A in the semifinals, 1-0, and lost its chance at the title.

SHS-AdC finished at the top of Group A with five points from a win and two draws.

SHS-AdC, in the meantime, dropped out of the Girls Under-17 division after losing to Luenthai Football School, 4-5, in the semifinals. /
