Jeraline Sasing-Diamada, 37, used to call her younger sister, PO1 Mae Sasing, to ask if she got home safe from work.

“We were able to talk in the afternoon when I called to ask if she was home already,” said Diamada.

When she called the policewoman again last Tuesday night to check if she had arrived home safely, Diamada wondered why another police officer answered her sister’s mobile phone.

She said she cannot recall how the police officer on the other line answered her, but she knew that something had happened to her sister.

“She had no enemy that’s why we were shocked when we learned what happened to her,” said Diamada.

Sasing, 31, was shot by unknown gunmen while she was driving her motorcycle on her way home to Consolacion town.

Sasing, a single mother, left a seven-year-old child.

Sasing was assigned in Moalboal town before she was transferred to the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, particularly in the City Public Safety Company.

She served the police force for more than five years.

The third among five siblings, Sasing was a “bubbly and funny” sister, Diamada said.

“She cooked during our bonding time. We ate together with the rest of the family members,” she said.

She was a good provider, always making sure that her child’s needs were taken care of.

As a colleague, she was an approachable person, her fellow police officers said.

Condolences poured out on Sasing’s Facebook account where pictures were posted by grieving colleagues and batchmates in the police force.

“I couldn’t believe that you’re gone, Sing. You left me and now I couldn’t see your bright smile. Nothing compares to your smile,” one of the slain police officer’s colleagues and close friends posted.

The colleague said Sasing was a good woman who would always smile even in her darkest days.

“Your memories will never be forgotten,” Sasing’s batchmates said in their posts.
