Globe reports continued growth

-

Globe Telecom, Inc. continued its revenue growth momentum for the first nine months of 2017, with consolidated service revenues reaching a record P95.1 billion, six percent higher than the P89.5 billion reported in the same period of 2016.

“The third consecutive quarter of all-time high revenues reflect the robustness of the growing data segment led by mobile and home broadband. This outstanding result was likewise enabled by the solid execution of the company’s innovative digital services and content partnerships with iconic global companies, underpinned by the continuous deployment of its leading edge network technology,” the company said in a statement.

Mobile revenues stood at P73.1 billion as of September, up seven percent year-on-year, driven by the strong uptake in mobile data. Globe Prepaid and TM, the company’s mass-market brand, registered revenue growth of 11 percent and nine percent, re- spectively, against the same period last year, while Globe Postpaid posted a one percent increase year-on-year.

Globe’s mobile subscriber base reached 59.3 million for the first nine months of the year, down nine percent from the 65.4 million subscribers reported a year ago.

The decline in the cumulative mobile subscriber base was due to the change in reporting of the company’s prepaid subscribers.

On a product perspective, mobile data contributed about 43 percent of total mobile revenues for the first nine months of 2017, versus 38 percent a year ago. Mobile data service revenues reached P31.3 billion as of September, or 20 percent above the P26.1 billion reported in the same period last year, driven by higher data usage and the continued growth in smartphone penetration, which increased to 70 percent for the period. /
