Tallo to get minimum 2-year deal with TNT

- RCM

Former Southwestern University ( SWU) Cobras star Mark Jayven “Macmac” Tallo got an assurance that he would be signed up by Talk N Text KaTropa within a week.

Gilas Pilipinas assistant coach Jem Ryn Betia told SunStar Cebu that Tallo’s agent, Edgar Mangahas, is now meeting with the TnT management to discuss the terms of the one- time high school and two-time Cesafi college MVP

“Boss Edgar ( Mangahas), assured that Tallo would be signed up by TnT. The only thing needs to be finalized is the terms of the contract. The “how much” and the “how long,” clauses are being ironed out as of this moment,” said Betia, who was Nash Racela’s former assistant at the Far Eastern University Tamaraws.

Although, he cannot be assured of the maximum P150,000 monthly salary as guarantee for the top three picks, Tallo is assured of at least P120,000 a month and a minimum of two years.

Betia, once an assistant coach at the University of San Carlos Warriors, believed Racela is fond of Cebuano players and that made him decide to pick Tallo as 10th in the draft.

Racela picked former University of Cebu players Roger Pogoy, who eventually won the Rookie of the Year award last season, and Alfrancis Tamsi. Both were under him with the FEU Tamarraws for four UAAP Seasons.

Aside from Tallo, Racela also picked former SWU and FEU stalwart Monbert Arong in the second round, but his fate will be determined when the KaTropa resume training on Nov. 13. /
