CPDRC scales up security measures inside the jail
An official of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) has ordered police officers assigned in the jail to shoot anyone who will try to enter the facility’s restricted entry point without any security clearance.
Audesti Miguel, CPDRC acting warden, said he has ordered personnel of the Cebu Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC) to strictly guard the area after they found out that contraband is often smuggled there.
Miguel, however, hoped that they will not be able to shoot any- one inside the facility.
“As much as possible, we don’t want to reach that point but I was really serious when I told my personnel not to go beyond that (restricted entry point) if they don’t have security clearance (from my office),” he said.
The restricted entry point is located at the back door of the jail, which is near the facility’s kitchen.
Miguel told reporters that movements of the detainees will be strictly monitored.
Aside from the internal section of the jail, detainees are only allowed to pass by the main entrance or near the desk officer’s station where they will be thoroughly inspected by personnel from PPSC and K9 units of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Miguel plans to put nets at the back of the jail to prevent outsiders from throwing contraband inside the facility.
CPDRC had conducted three joint greyhound operations inside the jail this year, which resulted to the confiscation of illegal drugs and other contraband.
