Dynacast faces Core Pacific in Shabaa finals

Division B defending champion 2001 Dynacast will try to keep its title against the 2000 Core Pacific in Game 1 of the best of 3 championship series of the 22nd Sacred Heart-Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (Shaabaa) tournament at the Magis Eagles Arena at 1 p.m.

At 2:30 p.m., dark horse 2008 Cottonseed will try to complete its Cinderella run as it faces topseed 2009 Crossfit Sub-tero in Game 1 of the Division C finals series.

Unbeaten until this point of the tournament, Dynacast will again rely on Josef Reoma, Erwin Ngo, JP Cabrera, Jason Arquisola and Wendell Ong to keep the winning run against the tough Core Pacific quintet.

Meanwhile, Cottonseed is in high spirits following its exceptional winning run in the playoffs.

Finishing the elimination at sixth place, Cottonseed (6-5) eliminated third seed and defending champions 2007 Petron Global in the quarterfinal round and ousted no.2 seed 2015 People’s General in the semifinal round. The 2015 People’s General posted more wins in the elimination round than Cottonseed.

Today, 2008 Cottonseed will be up against a tough foe that finished on top of the team standings and was only defeated once in the elimination round. /
