MAUTE ARMS RECOVERED

Troops recovered some 30 high-powered firearms believed to be owned by Maute fighters in Lake Lanao in Marawi City. Colonel Romeo Brawner, Joint Task Force Ranao deputy commander, said a member of the search team first found a weapon floating in the waters near Bandaringin Mosque in Barangay Marinaut. This prompted the search team to get into the water, where they discovered several high powered firearms at the bottom of the lake. Brawner said search and clearing operations will continue. The military declared an end to the war on October 23.
