Coun­cil OKs P1.1M rental sub­sidy

The City Coun­cil has ap­proved some P1.1 mil­lion for the rental sub­sidy of the board and lodg­ing of close to 200 stu­dents who were forced to va­cate the Cebu City Hil­ly­land Dor­mi­tory af­ter its un­timely clo­sure last June.

In the ap­proved res­o­lu­tion of Councilor Mar­garita Os­meña, the amount, which will be charged un­der the City’s share of the Philip­pine Amuse­ment Gam­ing Corp. (Pagcor), will shoul­der the rental dues of 196 stu­dents.

Un­der the project pro­posal of dor­mi­tory ad­min­is­tra­tor Kevin Cris­ter Paz, the stu­dents will get P1,000 monthly fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance from the City to de­fray their board­ing ex­penses from July to De­cem­ber this year.

To qual­ify for the sub­sidy, stu­dents must come from any of the up­land barangays in the city who used to oc­cupy the city dor­mi­tory as of March this year.

They must present a barangay clear­ance and up­dated study load to make sire that they are presently study­ing in any of the col­leges and uni­ver­si­ties in the city. /
