It’s UV, SHS again

Rivals University of the Visayas ( UV) and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHSAdC) once again face off in a championsh­ip, this time in the Under-19 division of the Cebu Youth Basketball League (CYBL) 3rd Conference.

SHS-AdC walked away with a close 68-61 victory over WJC Auto Sales in the semifinals over the weekend.

It was nip-and-tuck the whole way, but SHS-AdC did a little bit more and held on for the win.

Three Magis Eagles players were in double figures to lead the team in offense, Ray Lewis with 13, Hans Mesina with 12 and Darren Ngo also with 12 points. Joseph Santome had a game high of 19 points for WJC.

UV, meantime, came from behind to beat University of Southern Philippine­s Foundation (USPF), 65-59.

UV found itself by 11 points at halftime, 32-43.

The Green Lancers trimmed it down to just four points, 47-51, going into the final quarter.

Denzel Sabroso took over the game in the fourth quarter and scored eight of UV’s 18 points in that quarter.

Kenneth Brillo led UV with 14 points, while Sabroso added 13.

Ken Gato exploded for 21 points for USPF, but was defended well and held to just four points in the final period.

UV and SHS-AdC have faced each other in the finals of the SBP, Passerelle and in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) juniors. /
