Osmeña, Rama trade barbs on ‘vulgar’ FB post
Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña challenged Barug Team Rama to file a complaint against other public officials who also made controversial remarks.
His pronouncement came after former mayor Michael Rama announced that the opposition is pursuing criminal cases against the persons behind a vulgar hashtag that was used in one of Osmeña’s Facebook posts.
“Why doesn’t he sue (President Rodrigo) Duterte, who’s worse? Why are they being selective? Duterte has a dirtier mouth than me. You know why it’s criminal? I had 4,000 likes that’s why. So, should he also sue the 4,000 people who agreed with me? It’s an embarrassment to him (Rama). I will answer any charge filed against me,” the mayor said.
Osmeña has since apologized for the post and ordered to have it removed.
In a press conference yesterday, Rama lamented that the post was “dastardly offensive, highly reprehensible, and much less inhuman.”
Administrator
He said he never expected such from Osmeña, who had been his political ally for several years.
“Even if he says that he is being administered, I’m a lawyer, of course, I sympathize that he is not. But when you’re a lawyer, the act of the administrator is the act of the principal. Therefore, he has done a very serious criminal act. I wish Barug Team Rama never have to pass through this. He’s been doing this to me and I don’t wish for my teammates to become victims as well,” Rama said.
Rama said that among the names of the alleged responsible administrator that floated was Miguel Osmeña, the mayor’s son.
“Would you agree to that apology? Reveal who the responsible administrator (of the Facebook page) is. I heard the name of his son. Meaning, like father like son. The liability of the son is the liability of the father, that is if he is the administrator,” he said. /
