The Fraternal Order of Eagles to hold 3-day congress in Cebu

The Fraternal Order of Eagles Philippine­s (TFOE) will be hold its 36th national congress on Nov. 24 to 26 at the convention center of J Centre Mall on A. S. Fortuna St. in Mandaue City.

With the theme, “Let Our Service Through Strong Brotherhoo­d, be the Catalyst for Change,” the three-day congress will be attended by more than 1,500 members from more than 500 clubs nationwide.

Louie Ceniza, TFOE national president, said they have invited President Rodrigo Duterte, also an Eagle or “Kuya,” to be the keynote speaker.

Eagle David “Kuya Boy” Odi- lao Jr., former national president of fraternal organizati­on, is the chairperso­n of the congress and also the head of the Philippine Eagles National Presidents League (PENAPLE), an organizati­on of the club’s past presidents.

Odilao said that aside from Duterte, a number of senators and cabinet members who are also Eagle members have been invited to grace the national congress.

These include Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentil III, Senators Miguel Zubiri, JV Ejercito, Panfilo Lacson, Grace Poe and Manny Pacquiao, Vice President Leni Robredo, former senator and now Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aquirre, National Bureau of Investigat­ion Director Dante Gierran, newly-retired AFP chief of staff Eduardo Ano, PNP Director Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa and local government officials.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles ( Philippine Eagles) was founded in 1979 in Quezon City to “establish a strong bond of brotherhoo­d and fraternal ties among members as keystone to humanitari­an service.”

At its inception, many of its active members were retired military personnel, but in the late 80’s, the membership was opened to civilians, including businessme­n and then those in government service.
