Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale believes that the Philippine Nurses Association should file a complaint against a patient who allegedly harassed a nurse at the Balamban Provincial Hospital. She assured that the Provincial Women’s Commission will provide assistance to the nurse. “We will collaborate with them (PNA),” she said in an interview yesterday. Hedda Largo, head of the Provincial Women’s Commission, said they will help the nurse, considering that she is a woman and is working in a government facility.

To send a message that hospital personnel should be respected, Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale said that the Philippine Nurses’ Association (PNA) should push through with filing a complaint against a patient who allegedly harassed a nurse inside the Balamban Provincial Hospital last week.

Magpale said that the Provincial Women’s Commission will assist the nurse.

“We will collaborate with them (PNA),” she said in an interview yesterday.

Magpale said that the commission initially wanted to provide legal assistance to the nurse but the PNA said that the complainant already has a legal counsel.

Hedda Largo, head of the Provincial Women’s Commission, said they will help the nurse, considering that she is a woman who works in a government facility.

“We will give her whatever assistance she needs, but the case should be submitted to the court so the court can decide. We will not leave her behind or allow any woman to be ha- rassed,” she said in a separate interview.

Last week, a 25-year-old nurse working for the Balamban Provincial Hospital accused a public school teacher and her husband of harassing her.

The nurse claimed that the couple took turns harassing her and forcibly took her identification card while she was on duty at the hospital.

The incident was caught on video and circulated on Facebook. /
