■ CEMENT FIRM HOLDS LIVELIHOOD TRANING FOR COMMUNITY WOMEN
The Apo Land and Quarry Corp. reaches out to the women in the community with a livelihood training in Purok Marmol, Barangay Uling, City of Naga, Cebu. The training involves wash products processing, which includes tutorials in making soap, laundry bars and powdered detergents. Around 25 participants benefited from the three-day program.

In order to create a self-reliant and source-based community, APO Land & Quarry Corp. (ALQC) recently organized a wash products livelihood project for women in Purok Marmol, Barangay Uling, City of Naga, Cebu.
The wash products processing training involved a hands-on tutorial on how to make bath soap, laundry bar soap, powdered detergent, all-purpose liquid soap, fabric conditioner, and aloe vera shampoo.
A 25 participants from Barangay Uling attended the workshop.
The three-day training was facilitated by Department of Science and Technology (DOST) trainer Moises Miranda.
According to ALQC community relations officer Marlito Cabigas, the company aims to boost the livelihood capacity and competitiveness of its communities by sponsoring projects, such as the wash product processing training.
This livelihood project is part of the social development and management program (SDMP) of the company.
To help the participants start up their businesses, ALQC provided for the initial materials in their commercial production. The company also helped the beneficiaires establish an organized group to make the program sustainable.
“The women of our purok are now empowered to earn additional income. We can help our families even more, economically,” said project participant Normeta Jimenez in Bisaya.
