DBTC outlasts gutsy ParefSpringdale to complete sweep of football titles
The Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) captured the secondary football title with a 1-0 victory over Paref-Springdale in the 27th Cebu City Olympics at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) football pitch yesterday, completing a sweep.
Jascha Tabar scored the lone goal in the game at the ninth minute of the extension period to give DBTC the win. The two teams went scoreless in regulation, thanks to the gutsy plays of Springdale keeper Ernest Elizondo . DBTC also won the elementary title after Paref Springdale decided not to play in the final.
The girls’ secondary basketball team of Abellana National School (ANS)/ Unit 9, meanwhile won its fifth straight crown after beating Apas Integrated Senior
ANS routs Unit 6 for fifth straight title in girls basketball
High School/ Unit 6, 82-38, in the championship game at the Cebu Coliseum.
Unit 6 settled for the silver medal and Pardo National High School/ Unit 2 took the bronze medal.
“Looking back, we never thought that we’re going to dominate the secondary girls’ basketball for five straight years. It’s a blessing from God. We have reached this feat because of the support of the school led by Principal Dr. (Emelita) Lanaria,” said head coach Darwin Dinoy, who also credited the Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) and the school’s PTA officers.
Dinoy is also working with the CCSC grassroots program every summer to find potential female players.
UC Webmasters lead medal tally; USC at a distant second
ANS also asserted its dominance in the 3x3 girls’ secondary with a gold medal win. Unit 2 bagged the silver medal.
The University of Visayas (UV) snagged the gold medal in the boys’ secondary basketball after beating University of Cebu (UC), 87-76. UC settled for silver medal and ANS bagged the bronze medal.
DBTC hauled another gold medal in the boys’ elementary basketball with a 64-47 victory over UV, which settled for silver medal. Pasil Elementary School pocketed bronze medal.
In the overall medal tally, the University of Cebu ( UC) Webmasters virtually captured their third straight secondary overall title going into the final day today. /
