Millennial Max’s

- TIFFANY L. NERI / Writer

If Banilad Town Centre (BTC) is one of your urban center points, you would have noticed a few months ago that the first restaurant you see to your right when you grab a ticket from the parking machine is a “snazzy-fied” version of everyone’s favorite three-letter name, fried-chicken specializing, family restaurant—Max’s Restaurant.

From a homier and simpler feel, Max’s has redesigned its newest Cebu branch to fit the tastes and needs of a more millennial world.

Neon-esque lights—an attractive addition to the store—remind customers of the mottos that make up who it (Max’s Restaurant) is and its reputation for being the best at what it does. These make the words “The House That Fried Chicken Built” and “Sarap to the Bones” especially easy on the eyes at night.

Aside from the traditional family-style tables and chairs, the restaurant is sporting counter-style tables on the side—for guests looking for a place to chill and study by their voluntary lonesome. A few thoughtful details the place added were the USB ports and charging outlets in that same area, which shows its clear understanding of what it means to live in a millennial world. Now, while people fill up their tummies at Max’s, their smartphones can charge up as well.

That being said, Max’s Restaurant in BTC actually also comes with an expansion pack: Max’s Bakery—a whole area of shelves stacked with Max’s restaurant merchandise and baked goodies flown in from its commissary thrice a week. Now, how’s that for Max’s Restaurant version 2.0?

Max’s Restaurant, which started in 1945, expanded from Luzon to all over the Philippines and has four branches in Cebu: Ayala Center Cebu, SM City Cebu, SM Seaside City and BTC. The latest branch opened last June 2017 in BTC, and with it, a new era and style of Max’s Restaurant was born.
