Ychon, Abella top Velez Run

Agustin Ychon Jr. and Lizane Abella of Spectrum Runners Club ruled the men’s and women’s 10-kilometer race of the Velez Medtech Golden Run at the Cebu Business Park last Saturday.

Ychon, who hails from Davao City, clocked 36 minutes and 15 seconds to win the men’s division by a second over teammate Prince Joey Lee. Triathlete Jezrel Baguio came third in 36:33. Abella of Minglanill­a, Cebu topped the women’s division with a time of 40:00. Melody Perez finished second in 42:00 and Geneda Arcuino clocked 46:27 for third place.

John Michael Madelo, meanwhile, dominated the 10K students’ division in 47:49. Gerard Correa came second in 1:13:04 and Algen Castro finished third at 1:13:05.

Ariel Valle and Katrina Perez were named champions in the men’s and women’s 10K faculty/alumni division with times of 53:23 and 1:02:53, respective­ly.

Arnel Florentino nabbed the men’s 5K title in 18:45, Russel Ardiente snagged second place in 18:55 and Christophe­r Nappalla got third place in 19:09.

Cherry Andrin won the women’s 5K in 21:52, beating Charisse Encarnacio­n, who clocked 22:16. Nancy Del Castillo was in distant third with 33:14.

The Top 3 in the 3K race were Joel Serencio (10:43), James Noval (11:45) and Wendell Andrin (12:06) in the men’s division, and Rosemarie Tumamak (16:01), Irish Delechos (16:02) and Josephine Lazaga (36:00) in the women’s class. /
