Sugbuanong musicians’ gift to Cebuanos
A free concert will be Sugbuanong Musikero Inc.’s early Christmas gift to Cebuano music lovers on Dec. 2 at the SM Seaside City Cebu Wing Atrium at 4 p.m.
Local artists such as Max Surban, The Crazy Duo and Chritofer Mendrez will perform for the Cebuano crowd but not without the special participation of Manila-based Cebuano singers like Vina Morales, Jay-r Siaboc and Chad Borja.
The group bared its plans in a press conference last Nov. 22 at SM Seaside City Cebu.
The three-hour benefit concert will also feature comic acts.
There are 23 entertainers expected to perform for four minutes each.
The group’s officers said the show is made possible because of their generous sponsors, who are mostly musicians themselves. Sponsors helped cut the cost of the instruments from an estimated P180,000 to just P60,000.
Co-founder Sam Costanilla said SM Seaside City Cebu sponsored the venue.
The concert will earn money through sponsorships, which Costanilla said will be given to three beneficiaries who are also musicians and to the club’s medical assistance funds for its members.
In a separate interview, Constanilla explained the medical assistance fund is a stand-by fund to help the members pay for their medical needs.
Baby Condeno, the group’s secretary, said that one of the club’s objectives is to unite all Cebuano musicians and address the growing need to standardize the talent fee of the artists.
She proudly shared how the club can help young musicians by providing a studio. SMI already has its own studio.
