CTU students top two national engineering exams
Mechanical Engineering students of the Cebu Technological University (CTU) Main Campus in Cebu City emerged as champions among all examinees who participated in two prestigious engineering examinations held in Manila recently.
They are Rodel M. Resit, Mark Vincent E. Mamigo, Jun Aro A. Estrella, Edilbert Libre and Joshua A.Gonzales.
They compose the CTU team that participated in the 65th Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers National Students Quiz Contest held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City last Oct. 18.
Engr. Jonathan A. Meraballes of the CTU Main Engineering Department said he was proud of the performance of their students and for maintaining their excellence, which helped them top the exam.
Dr. Ronald Galindo, associate dean of the CTU Engineering Department, coached the same team during the Brainmesh Inter-University Quiz Competition held at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City last Sept. 22.
Galindo thanked the group for showing their sharpness and using their stock knowledge during the quiz.
They were trained for months and endured the three rounds of elimination by taking turns answering the oral and written mathematical questions.
Last month’s exam was participated in mostly by selected and talented students from the 55 privately owned and governmentrun universities across the country, while the test held last September was participated in by selected students from 36 different private and state universities.
It was the first time the CTU engineering students were able to top the two national engineering contests held in the same year, which school officials said is a show of progress and improvement in both teaching and learning abilities of the CTU engineering professors and their students.
It is attuned to CTU’s goal to “produce scientifically and technologically oriented human capital equipped with appropriate knowledge, skill and attitude,” they said.
