Not so traditional caroling
Christmas is coming. Filipinos as we are, we usually celebrate and feel the the spirit of the Yuletide season through caroling as part of our tradition.
Department managers together with their staff from two hotels in Cebu, Cebu Parklane Hotel and Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, visited the SunStar building and rendered remarkable Christmas songs. The Parklane group sang a unique blend of Cebua- no novelty songs popularized by Max Surban. Global brand Marco Polo offered a happy mix of English Christmas songs and the popular Cebuano holiday hit “Kasadya ning Taknaa.”
In separate interviews, Jaybee Aquino (Parklane’s marcomm manager) stated that for this year’s caroling session, their group focused on the traditional way of “pagpanaygon.” Manna Alcaraz (Marco Polo’s marcomm manager) said that their group focused on sharing about the hotel’s “Tree of Hope” as the MARCO POLO hotel wanted to relay a message of bringing “joy and giving love to everyone.” The Tree of Hope is located at Marco Polo’s grand lobby. Proceeds from the donations go to the GMA Kapuso Foundation.
The traditional way of caroling goes that those who sing songs are the ones who receive gifts. Both hotels broke tradition in a way and gave back with songs and presents to SunStar as token of appreciation for supporting both hotels throughout the years.
