CITY WORKER YELLS AT TAXI DRIVER, SLAMS DOOR

-

A video is circulating that shows a member of the Lapu-Lapu Allied Force (Claf ), a group created by the Lapu-Lapu- City Government for peace and order, slamming the window of a taxi driver and yelling at him to open it last Sunday night. The video, posted by Chum Oclarit, went viral and was shared 1,000 times as of 4:52 pm. Inocencia Roa, 40, felt sorry about the incident, saying he was just trying to discipline the taxi driver, who he claimed was driving fast behind him while he and his brother were on a motorcyle. In an interview, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza said, “I was so surprised that he wasn’t even in uniform and he was brandishing his ID. I will check this person’s background. Sa iyang gihimo nakadaot man gud sya sa grupo (He has given the group a bad name).”

Radaza plans to remove Roa as a member of the City of Lapu-Lapu Allied Force, saying that the latter created a bad image for the group after ‘attacking’ a taxi driver.

A member of the City of LapuLapu Allied Force (Claf ) is under investigation after he was caught on video slamming the window of a taxi and shouting at the driver, demanding that the latter open the door last Sunday night.

Claf is a group the LapuLapu-City Government created to maintain peace and order in the city.

The video, which was posted on Facebook by Chum Oclarit, was shared 1,000 times as of 4:52 p.m. yesterday.

Inocencio Roa, 40, apologized for the incident. He said he was only trying to discipline the taxi driver, who was driving fast on M.L. Quezon Highway at 9:30 p.m.

Mayor Paz Radaza, in an interview, said she wants the incident investigated.

“I was so surprised (with what he did). He was not even wearing his uniform and was just showing his ID. I want to check the background of this person. With what happened, he created a bad image for the group,” she said.

“I think we need to remove people who abuse their authority,” she added.

Roa appeared before Pajo Barangay Captain Junard Chan yesterday morning after the latter saw the video and called the Claf member’s attention.

Chan was the one who endorsed Roa to become a member of Claf. He said what Roa did was wrong.

“I told him that he was not fit for the job because he has no patience in this kind of situation,” he said.

Before the incident, Roa was on his way home to Sitio Kitchen in Pajo from the City Hall.

After crossing the intersection of M.L. Quezon Highway, Roa said he noticed that a taxi was running fast.

He signaled to the taxi driver to slow down, but the later allegedly sped off and slightly hit him.

Roa then blocked the way of the driver when they reached the Mandaue-Mactan Bridge.

Based on the video, Roa tried to open the taxi’s door but failed. He then slammed it with his fist.

He denied that he was drunk at that time of the incident. He said he was just carried away by his emotions.

“I was not able to control my anger. I was mad. I admit that what I did was too much so whatever will be the decision of Claf, I will accept it,” he said.

Roa said he was traumatized by fast-running vehicles after his mother died because of reckless driving. /
