That Popeye lifestyle: Healthy and fit

- TESSA FRANCES T. AGUILAR, USJ- R Communication intern / Writer

TONIQ Juice Bar and The Detox Bar celebrated their fusion last Nov. 26 at TONIQ’s Juice Bar in Ayala Center Cebu. Invited guests munched on vegetablebased dishes that would surely earn them some Popeye-like strength.

Anne Dala, the founder and owner of the juice bar, offered her gastronomic concoction of veggie pizzas, organic salads, soup, wraps, sandwiches and desserts in the establishment. Bestsellers served included the Garden Pesto Pizza and Mashroom Pizza, filled with bits of spinach topped with red bell peppers, quick-melt cheese and of pesto made from olives and spinach; and the Spicy Mushroom Pizza, one with a distinct seafood flavor from the Katsuobushi that blended nicely with its garlic base. This particular dish also had some mushrooms on it.

One noteworthy dish was Anne’s Buckwheat Noodle Salad—Buckwheat noodles that come in bundles made from wheat flour, then dressed with roasted sesame seeds, Nori strips, carrots and sayote.

Apart from the delectable plates of food sampled, The Detox Bar also introduced juices which are a part of its “three- day detox program.”

A natural healing and weight-loss product will also be available in TONIQ’s outlets with free consultation from Anne. The detox bottled juices are six different juices in total: Red (watermelon), Purple (beetroot, ginger, coconut water), White ( guyabano), Orange (carrot juice, ginger and coconut water), Green (malunggay, kale, arugula, lettuce with coconut water), and the brewed juice called Chia Fresca (turmeric with chia drink). The final Fat Flush Drink with cucumber, lemon, and honey drink could be altered to Chia Fresca.

Anne also shared during the event about a more convenient way for people to access her diet plan and that is through packed meals through deliveries.
