■ CEBU CITY, PROVINCIAL CAPITOL WORK TOGETHER TO REHABILITATE LARSIAN

-

Better food, a cleaner area and improved customer service await visitors of Larsian in Cebu City. This, as the City and Provincial Govern- ment work on the rehabilitation of the famous food strip on Don Mariano Cui St.

Calling it an “institution that needs a lot of improvement”, Mayor Tomas Osmeña met with the barbecue vendors of Larsian last Friday to discuss their concerns. “Larsian is in Cebu City, but falls within property owned by the Cebu Provincial Government. So, the governments of Cebu Province and Cebu City will be working hand-in-hand to bring you a cleaner, better Larsian,” Osmeña said in a Facebook post dated Dec. 8.

City Hall will install a water tank in the area, so vendors can keep the area clean. A regular garbage collection schedule for Larsian will also be established to deter pests. Lighting will also be improved, and all vendors will be required to attend a food-handling seminar to ensure the safety of patrons, the mayor added. The Province, on the other hand, will handle major structural renovations to improve cleanliness and provide a parking area.

Construction is expected to begin in January. “Since they own the property, they will also establish a management office that will ensure all vendors follow health and safety regulations and that all vendors have price lists on their stalls,” Osmeña said.
