Amazing concert

AMAZING. It was an amazing free concert that the Sugboanong Musikero Inc. (SMI) staged the other Saturday in SM Seaside. To say that it was a hugely successful show is an understatement. Nevertheless, the large crowd that came to the weekend treat was very receptive to each performer’s number.

HISTORIC. Such show is now part of Cebu’s music history. It was the very first time that majority of our homegrown singers, bands, comic duos and other entertainers performed on one and the same stage. Never before did it happen here. One of the dramatic scenes during the show was when SMI lead founder Gitoy Ornopia Jr. gave a wheelchair and a check each to two former physically challenged musicians.

MEMBER. Singer/actress Vina Morales is now an honorary SMI member. She sang “Matod Nila” after a danceable number to the great delight of the general public. I admire her commitment to help SMI’s other upcoming projects.

FILM. I should congratulate Dr. Charles Lim and his wife Dr. Sunshine and their Heritage Production for a well-crafted film titled “Magbuwag Ta Kay...” that has Rowell Ucat a.k.a. Medyo Maldito and Akiko Solon in the lead roles. Happily, the storyline, written by Therese Villarante, doesn’t have the predictable factor so watching the movie until it ends is a nice experience. Director Janice Perez and her assistant RJ Aquino did an excellent job. A followup flick is a must, so let’s hope the Lims have this in the planning stage now. ( For comments, text 0932277-8771)/ S
