The gift of legacy
The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium, H.E. Michel Goffin, turned over the legacy of diplomatic leadership from Belgian Consul for 30 years (1986-2017) Enrique Benedicto, to his heir apparent, son Enrison, who at 40, accepted the challenge to carry on the gigantic task of his father who indefatigably expanded the Cebu-Belgium friendship, economic and educational ties, not to mention the community-outreach assistance the latter rendered to typhoon and earthquake vic- tims, since typhoon Ruping, and thereafter. The valedictory message of Consul Enrique drew loud applause, as Ambassador Goffin paid tribute to his relentless service. “You will always be called Consul, because your timeless dedication is etched in the history of both Belgium and Cebu.”
On the other hand, concert icon Jose Mari Chan paid homage to the young Cebuano talents who performed as front acts of his concert in Cebu hosted by the Zonta Club of Cebu 1. He called Anna Fe- gi-Brown and Joie Catamora, both alumnae of University of San Jose-Recoletos’ Dramatics and Cultural Ensemble, and his sons, to sing with him. He drew up the curtain of his legacy of music to the younger generation.
The Kapwa Ko, Mahal Ko Foundation-Cebu honored its benefactors, partners and volunteers during its silver anniversary, and featured the Children with Cancer, cured and undergoing treatment, as our legacy of life for the future generation.
