Triathlon team wins overall title in 2017 La Norte Man Triathon
The Rider Omega Triathlon Team asserted its dominance in the third leg of 2017 La Norte Man Triathlon, winning the Team Challenge overall title at the Pikalawag Beach in Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte last weekend.
After winning the Team Challenge in the first two legs, the vaunted triathlon team in Cebu lived up to its billing in the final leg and capped off the series with the overall Team Challenge crown.
Omega’s Paul Jumamil led the team with the overall second place finish in the men’s standard race, which covered a 1.5-kilometer swim, 40K bike and 10K run, behind eventual overall winner Emmanuel Comendador of Paseo de Loon Tri Team.
Jorry Ycong of Omega Pro added another podium finish for the team as he settled for third place in the men’s overall.
Omega’s Feelin Torres and Cianyl Jamae Gonzalez also made it to the podium with a second and third place finish in the women’s overall standard race, behind first placer Lian Ramo of General Santos City.
Omega Tri counted on junior national team members Andrew Kim Remolino and Karen Manayon in the sprint race, which covered 750-meter swim, 20K bike and 5K run.
Remolino won the men’s sprint race overall title and also got the fastest swim split award, while Manayon ruled the women’s class and bagged three special recognition—the fastest swim, bike and run split.
Omega’s Joland Olmilla and Vic Montebon nabbed second and third place in the men’s 18-24 age- group; Brian Borling won the men’s 30-34; Maria Ivy Kyono who topped the women’s 35-39; and Steve Cortes who finished second in the men’s 40-44.
Frances Moira Erediano finished second overall in the sprint race, Nicole Del Rosario topped the 29-below women’s age-group sprint, while Renz Wynn Corbin and CJ Lipura finished second and third in the men’s 29-below sprint race. /
